Christie's : L’enchère du siècle ?

Ce 11 juin, Christie’s New York va présenter à la vente la Patek Philippe Grande Complication n°97912 de Stephen S. Palmer. C’est probablement l’une des enchères les plus historiques de la manufacture.

La pièce, estimée entre 1 et 1,5 millions de dollars est en or rose et comporte : une répétition minute, un calendrier perpétuel, un chronographe split-seconds, une grande et une petite sonnerie et une phase de lune. La pièce a été manufacturée en 1898 et n’avait jamais été montrée précédemment en public.

Jusqu’à sa réapparition, il était communément admis que Patek Philippe n’avait réalisé sa première grande complication qu’en 1910. La 97812 a été acquise le 3 octobre 1900 pour la somme de 6.500 CHF. Elle vient prouver l’antériorité de la manufacture sur ce type de complication avec un exemplaire datant du XIXème siècle. C’est par ailleurs le seul cas connu de ce type de pièce en boîtier or rose alors que toutes les suivantes furent réalisées en or jaune.
